Tilt Table Test

The tilt table test is used to determine the cause of fainting spells (syncope). The patient is connected to an ECG, oxygen monitor and blood pressure monitor and strapped to a bed that is tilted in different directions. The test is designed to cause a fainting spell under a controlled environment. This test shows how the patient’s heart rate and blood respond to a change in position.
